About the media

Clack Filter-Ag filter media against mechanical impurities has a number of distinct advantages compared to traditional granular filter media used to capture particulate matter from water. The filter aggregate particles, which have frayed edges and irregular surfaces, result in a large filtration surface area. This creates a complex flow path and effective removal of mechanical substances from the water. The size of the mechanical impurities filtered out is typically between 20 and 40 microns.

Operating principle

During natural mechanical filtration, when water passes through the media, the Filter-Ag filter media against mechanical impurities forms a barrier that prevents the passage of large particles, trapping them inside, so that the mechanical impurities in the water do not enter your home. This means your water is cleaner and more pleasant to use. Once the maximum possible amount of mechanical impurities has been collected, the filler regenerates. During the regeneration process, all the accumulated particles are removed to the sewer.

Use

The filter media does not require very high pressure as it is itself lightweight (recommended pressure is 2.0 bar). The low weight of the Filter-Ag not only means a lower required pressure, but also a lower ammounts of water used during regeneration. It is the combination of particle shape, size and density of this filler that makes it the perfect choice for those who are interested in high quality water filtration. It is also relevant for those who are concerned about water saving and high pressure in the house, as it does not 'stop' the water flowing through the media. Although Filter-Ag is not designed to remove iron from water, the rough and serrated surface of Filter-Ag is very good at trapping fragile iron deposits (rust coming from the pipe).

Advantages and disadvantages

The biggest advantage of the Filter AG filter media against mechanical impurities is that it is lightweight and does not require high pressures and high water consumption costs during the filter regeneration process. Not only does it not require high pressure, but it also does not slow down the flow of water in the house due to its specific structure. Clack Filter-Ag can be used in systems designed for pressure or gravity flow. Due to its unique density, Filter-Ag can also be used in multilayer (different filtration stages) filter designs. This allows more flexibility in solving complex filtration problems. The disadvantage of the filler is that it does not collect particles smaller than 20 microns. If its needed to remove them from the water cartridge filter can be installed that performs this function, but it will require maintenance (replacement).
